Linda Kahn is President of Linda Kahn Media LLC, a global consulting firm dedicated to forging strategic business and creative partnerships in all aspects of media entertainment for general audiences.
Clients have included Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Bridge Multimedia, Portfolio Entertainment, Shelly Adventures/Jingle Bilingual, Zee Learn, Australian Children’s TV Foundation, Vibrant TV, PlaySquare, BizKid$, Putumayo Kids, Imira Entertainment, The Green Divas, Veria, Magnet Media, ZDF Enterprises, Inchworm Media. Kahn offers a full range of consultation for co-production, program acquisitions, sales, distribution, development, interactive, licensing/consumer products, publishing and global brand building.
Formerly Senior Vice President of International TV Sales & Merchandising for SCHOLASTIC MEDIA, Linda established Scholastic Media’s presence in the highly competitive global market, developing and directing all sales and strategic international opportunities in television, video, interactive, character licensing and promotions. In addition, her responsibilities encompassed international co-production financing.
LINDA led Scholastic Media’s INTERNATIONAL TV sales, consumer products and promotional activities including those for WordGirl, Maya & Miguel, Clifford The Big Red Dog, I SPY, Horrible Histories, Stellaluna, The Magic School Bus, Animorphs and Goosebumps. LINDA also spearheaded the branding and distribution of the Scholastic Video Collection, creating a new consumer video line based on the AWARD-WINNING Weston Woods library of classic best-selling children’s picture books.
Prior to joining Scholastic Media in 1995, LINDA spent 12 YEARS in senior executive positions at NICKELODEON and MTV NETWORKS. As Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon’s International Program Sales, she initiated and built Nickelodeon’s television syndication and format sales worldwide. LINDA introduced Nickelodeon’s original series including Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, and Doug to the global children’s television market. She has worked with networks AROUND THE WORLD to customize Nickelodeon’s popular game show formats to local markets.
Previously, as VICE PRESIDENT of ACQUISITIONS for Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite, Linda pioneered program acquisitions for NICKELODEON and was instrumental in the launch of NICK AT NITE.
LINDA is a media industry expert and often moderates international panels about children’s media – some events were UK@KIDCREEN moderating Emerging Opportunities in the Digital Landscape(2014) and Introduction to the North American Market (2012-13); at MIP JR 2012 panels: Co-Production Boot Camp and The Buyers Conversation – What do They Want; Meet the Buyers at MIP Jr. 2010; the 2009, 2010, and 2011 Kidscreen Summit Pitch It panels.
LINDA is a community leader and advocate for media issues and women’s health. She currently serves as a Board Member for BAFTA New York (Chair Community Outreach Committee, Founder Children’s Television Committee). Linda started the BAFTA New York scholarship program to provide opportunities for graduate and undergraduate film and TV students. Other leadership roles have included NY Women in Film & Television (Board President 2003 – 2005 and Advisory Board) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Board Co-President NYC Affiliate 2006 – 2009).
After beginning her career as a TEACHER of English and educational media in Watertown, MA, LINDA became Director of Curriculum Development for Prime Time School Television in CHICAGO. There she created curriculum introducing the use of evening television programs to teach students in grades 7 – 12 economics, law-related education, and TV news. She has extensive EXPERIENCE training teachers nationwide in media education. LINDA holds a M.Ed. in Educational Communications and Technology from Boston University and a B.A. in English from Washington University in St. Louis.
